Review for Brush Fire Painting Workshops, San Francisco, CA, USA
I had a great experience at Malcolm X elementary where I met up with Naomi, Brushfires founder. we toured our section of the school. along the way I watched as Naomi called out each kids name and was received by all students with joy and admiration...I had learned that Naomi had been working with Malcolm X for the passed 5 Years so the students and staff knew here well. Once we made it to the class we would work in it was nice to see some supplies and space she had set up for the use of our workshop. The students arrived and took there seats asking all types of questions about me and what the task of the day would be... with excitement between them and I we were eager to begin. Naomi started the workshop off with intros and then she asked each student how their day was. I thought this was a positive way to make us all more comfortable. Naomi then set us up and gave us direction to work. kids are funny in how they worry about the kid next to them, it was a challenge at times to keep them on task but it was fun to watch them work and tell through their paintings... I would hope to be able to help again...thanks Naomi

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the people who are involved have been a source of kindness and hope for more grounded students.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
make a true difference in all ages of students who need alternative ways to see the world, to express themselves, to self sooth into this we call life...
Ways to make it better...
I would have walked into a class of juniors or seniors as I have worked with elementary before in the arts and revisited those struggles, but this is a personal note...
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
finances
One thing I'd also say is that...
join in...
