Review for New Vocation Racehorse Adoption Program, Lexington, KY, USA
I have had many years of experience with New Vocations and helped quite a few adopters with their Thoroughbred and Standardbred horses. This is probably one of the most professional adoption programs out there for both ex-race horses and young ones that have never been raced.
Please note that I did not call it a rescue and that would be the only thing that I wish they would change. New Vocations does not take on horses that are starved, abused or neglected however they have been known to take on horses that were rescued from the track and brought back to health by rescuers. They do take horses from the racetrack and begin the transition to riding horses with knowledgeable trainers at their very nice facilities in Ohio and Kentucky. Then they carefully try to match horse with just the right owner and will accept the horse back if it doesn't work out.
They hold large Charity events each year including a huge Charity Horse Show and an elegant auction right before the Little Brown Jug (a premier harness race). They have actively enlisted the sponsorship and financial help from breeders, owners and trainers and this year many who raced in the Breeder's Cup. Everything they do is top shelf and very professional.
There is a bit more of a struggle right at the moment as many racetracks are closing permanently leaving many more horses needing adoption. The only other option for these horses is usually the kill pen at the slaughter auction and New Vocations is trying to bridge that gap.
Review for Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue Inc, Columbus, OH, USA
Sad, sad and outrageous that the theft of Piper by the director of this "rescue" has not been resolved even now. This will help destroy the reputation of all dog rescues. Give the dog back to it's rightful owner, get rid of the nutcase director who decided to steal a dog and take it home and maybe the reputation of COSR could be rebuilt.
This is NOT going to go away COSR-you need to deal with this travesty and do it now! I am looking for a Sheltie to adopt but will not touch your organization with a ten foot pole! The letter from your attorney (and what is that costing!) on your website is full of lies.
