My Nonprofit Reviews

pet-lover
Review for The Humane Society of the United States, Washington, DC, USA
this organization is not doing what people think it does -- the dollars do not go to help animals in shelters. And, the salaries paid to the top people are exorbitant. It does not deserve non-profit status since so much of its time and funds are spent on lobbying efforts at state and national levels. It is primarily a lobbying organization.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
wasted money, time and worse yet animals not being helped
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
shut it down and spread the money to the real shelters where it would do some good. Maybe send some to veterinary schools and farmer support groups too.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the stuff they send because they think you will join -- free calendars if you want
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
set in the animal rights agenda, not in favor of pet ownership
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
pay its board even higher salaries than they already get, write more propaganda to eliminate pet ownership
Ways to make it better...
can't imagine anything that would make this a good experience
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
I hope the rational people of this country, realizing the harm that it does
One thing I'd also say is that...
they must be great PR people -- so many believe they are doing good stuff when they are not
