Review for Fine Arts Chamber Players / Basically Beethoven, Dallas, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Fine Arts Chamber Players is an outstanding organizaiton that brings FREE professionally played classical music to the Dallas community and provides FREE exucational outreach programs to children in the community. I am especailly fond of our eduactional outreach programs that provide teachers with both the necessary ciriculum for the class and expose the kids to classical music. The "Dream Collectors" presents several muical plays that combine music, science, philosphy and general character building into a spectacular play for kids in the grades 4 - 6. At the end of each play, the kids can't wait to ask questions and talk to the musicians. FACP recently started an after school string progmram at a local underprivileged, underfunded and mostly non-English speaking elementary. This program enlists professional musicians to teach the kids to play the violin and, more importantly, has raised the grades and confidence of every child involved. The teachers at Lowe Elementary rave about the positive changes they have seen in the students who particiapte in the string program. And my first exposure ... and most continual exposure ... to FACP is throught its free concert series at the Dallas Museum of Art. The museum allows the general public to enter the museum for the concerts free of charge. Professional musicians grace the stage to bring free classical chamber music to everyone. FACP is present in the schools, exposing and teaching the kids about classical music, and the free concert series gives students an opportunity to come with their families to hear wonderful music that would otherwise be confined to the symphony hall or other ticketed venues. FACP offers many other concerts and educational outreach programs ... too many to name in this brief note ... but the thing that means the most to me about FACP is that it leaves a lasting impression on anyone it touches. If there is a child with an interest in music ... cello, violin, voice ... FACP will find a way to bring music to that child's life ... through donating an instrument, finding a teacher free of charge, bringing the child to the concerts, bringing a program to the school. If there is person who wants to hear good classica music, you will not be disappointed with an FACP production. Many concert goers often wonder aloud, why is this free? Its so good that you could ... should ... charge for this. That's the point.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The Bancroft Family Concert Series The Basically Bethoveen Festival The Dream Collectors education programs Music A to Z And many children, from ages 6 - high school who have participated in our programs.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Bringing classical music to an audience that would not normally be exposed to this genre.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Prefessional and shared a love for music.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make significant strides to make arts ... especially music .. part of the education of each and every child in the Dallas area.
