Review for Food Bank For New York City, New York, NY, USA
I gave over $1000 to this charity and was invited to a round table discussion. I wanted to hear about where the need was. Where we were going to open and stock more pantries, where was the real need, how to get more food to needy people with the least amount of effort and cost. Instead all they talked about was politics. Their brilliant idea was a plan to get all senior citizens automatically signed up for food stamps. I wanted to provide food to people who were struggling. That was not happening here.
Hi Laura, Thank you for your generous support for Food Bank for New York City, and for taking the time to speak with us about your experience following your comment. As we discussed, while food distribution will always be the heart of our mission, we’re working to bring all available resources to stabilize struggling families so they don’t have to rely on emergency food to survive. We always welcome the conversation about the approach we take to help keep food on the table for 1.4 million New Yorkers every year, including our network of more than 1,000 pantries, soup kitchens and schools, as well as our income support services like food stamps enrollment and free tax assistance for the working poor. We see all of these strategies as crucial to helping families afford food and live in dignity. My direct line is 212.566.7855 ext. 2240 should you wish to discuss further. Thank you again for your commitment to end hunger in New York City. Best, Alyssa Herman Chief Development Officer Food Bank for New York City
