My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for NAMI-BRAZOS VALLEY, Bryan, TX, USA
Lost in the confusion of emotional pain and personal frustration something had to change! Since I am aware that the only person I can change is me, I knew that my husband and I would need others who understand loving someone with mental illness to learn what changes we could make in and for ourselves.
We found compassionate, knowledgeable and surviving people who were willing to share anything that they had learned or experienced. All the while reminding us this would be our own journey, but they were co-travelers for the portions of the journey they could. Freedom to grieve, to be angry and be hopeful was a great gift.
Learning that the nater and current focus is grassroots support and education provided by volunteers who have lived experience who want to ease the burden of another won my heart. I give back because so much was given to me in my time of need then and now. I give my time and my money to assist others through their journey.
