Review for Frisco Humane Society, Frisco, TX, USA

Rating: 1 stars

After working closely with the cat adoption crew I witnessed a great injustice. After a cat had taken to a couple and the couple had stayed and waited for the adoption agency to get back to them for over 2 hours and followed their policies as well as filled out their paperwork, the cat was given to member of the organization itself who did not file for adoption. The couple that had wanted to adopt the cat had waited for days and checked up on him daily, visiting him and making sure they were going to get him. However after they left, the cat in question was handed off to another associate and replaced with a different cat. Injustice and unfair treatment to those who have fallen for an animal.

Role:  General Member of the Public

Thank you very much for your comments. We will strive to make our adoption process more obvious to the general public in the future. We do not adopt out on a first come, first serve basis. This is stated on our Website and our adoptable animal profiles on Petfinder. We review all applications received to ensure that the animal and the applicant are a good match based on our personal experiences with the animal. These animals live in our homes with us so we are familiar with habits and behaviors. http://www.friscohumanesociety.com/Adoption-Process. The kitten was at the adoption center less than 36 hours before it was adopted so the kitten was not there for any prospective adopter to wait days for him or to check up on him daily. He arrived just before 12pm on Saturday and was adopted out the next afternoon. It was also very clearly marked on his adoption card that he was applications only and the foster had to approve all applications prior to adoption. Siamese mix kittens are always very popular and attract lots of potential adopters. We received several applications on the Siamese kitten on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning, the couple that had been waiting at the location wanting to adopt the kitten arrived two hours prior to our adoption start time. They were informed when the adoption counselor arrived that they were welcome to apply for the kitten but that we had already received several applications on the kitten. The couple was okay with our adoption application process and our adoption counselor also tried to help locate another Siamese kitten available for adoption. A family that had already completed an application for the kitten was selected to adopt it and the required adoption paperwork was completed and the adoption fee was paid.
