Review for The Crucible, Oakland, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Attending open house, I was very impressed with the hands-on training being given in the use of all fire-related materials--including the less common, such as bending glass and creating neon signs and art work incorporating neon, jewelry and bronze casting--beautiful bells, with wonderful tone, ceramics, and of course the wonderful entertainment of fire dancing, the fire tornado and so much more. They also did a great job of repairing some silver dishes for me.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Watching hands-on creation of both visual and performing art using fire, one of the 4 elements.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Start a satellite location in the south bay area.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Ability to interact with artists and staff.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Talented and dedicated to their vision.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand, acquire more sophisticated equipment, better serve the community--they also offer classes in sewing and other practical arts.

Ways to make it better...

I lived closer and could visit more often. If I had more money myself, and could attend more of their fund-raising events.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Getting the same support from other municipalities that they have been getting from Oakland--as example, in Fremont, concern about safety issues kept us from having fire dancers at our 50th anniversary celebration.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
