Review for Ally Action, Concord, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Ally Action really, truly saves lives. In the past 10 years I have volunteered and/or worked with the organization, I have seen and felt the immense impact the organization has had on the lives of the people it has touched. I have literally seen young people, adults and schools transformed by the workshops and trainings Ally Action offers. The most common piece of feedback from youth having participated in classroom workshops was that there is a huge sense of gratitude for having created a dialogue in the classroom about an issue young people deal with every day. Statements like "that's so gay" are still used in most schools today. They are an amazing resource for school communities struggling with anti-gay bullying and harassment.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

feedback from students and teachers about how Ally Action makes a difference each and every day.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the sense of feeling like I belong to something larger, stronger and more just than any system I've experienced throughout my life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

caring people that intend to make a difference one classroom at a time.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

begin to start reaching hundreds of schools in a way that has meaning and depth - just like how Ally Action approaches work in schools now.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2008

Role:  Volunteer & I did sensitivity workshops on LGBTQ issues for students.
