Review for Paper Circle, Nelsonville, OH, USA
I volunteered to help after taking a couple of classes. The people involved were wonderful. Made me feel like I was part of a family. Found that they truly cared about their community and art. Made me feel like a was a big part of something huge. Realized how much they were putting of themselves into the community. It was really special knowing that each and every one of them were totally involved in getting anyone and everyone to somehow get some hands on with a form of art. So wonderful in these days of program cuts in the schools. How else to get some self confidence and self-esteem into sooo many who need it so badly. How wonderful to give, more than a few, something to look forward to. I can't say enough about Paper Circle. I was able to watch the community grow while I was part of this great extended "family".

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
classes. Helping with a few classes and helping to keep the store open on Saturdays.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
find $$ for them so they could operate without any burn out. So it wouldn't have to be a 'side' job. Make sure somehow that more people knew of this great "paper-making", book making, art loving place was around.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
being part of an extended "family". Feeling needed and helpful. Knowing that there were people who thought of art from the minute they got out of bed till they collapsed into bed to sleep finally. Those people are waiting to share and teach all they can.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
absolutely lovely people. Knew what a person needed and made one feel needed and helpful. Always ready to give a hug or comforting word. Always there to show you what you didn't even know you needed. Extremely helpful!!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
help so very much to spread the word. Show the community what they have to offer. Be able to keep kids into something they are interested in. Keep the ones who have to work those regular jobs now, keep them into Paper Circle and not drained.
Ways to make it better...
I had known that I could keep helping.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
getting folks to know they are there and what they can do and what they have to share and sell. $$ to help stop the burn-out. $ to help get kids interested and help them know there are other things out there in a small community besides drugs and sex.
One thing I'd also say is that...
this is one of the greatest places I have ever been a part of. I'm almost 60, been an Army Brat, been many different places, seen many things, met many people. Never been as satisfied with an organization as Paper Circle. Amazing group of artists, etc.

Review for ARTS/West, Athens, OH, USA
Hubby and I have enjoyed 5 different plays at Arts/West. We thoroughly enjoyed each one. Excellent choices. Everyone involved was extremely courteous each time. Warm, welcoming, helpful and excited. Great experiences. Has been very exciting knowing they have been doing so much with children (of all ages) from the community to enrich their lives and knowledge of art of many forms. The updates have been really special to us. No way to show appreciation completely.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Give them maximum parking spaces. Allow those who are truly participating and being involved with folks who wish to learn or improve their abilities through art, to make a decent living so they could spend their waking hours doing what they love. Dream!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
being part of the audience watching 5 plays that we've attended in the past. Seeing that each and every person involved really seemed to be excited being a part of Arts/West. Wonderful knowing they care about art of all forms!!
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
very helpful and sweet. Each one seemed to truly enjoy what they were being part of. They also did their jobs and helped others who must have been new, with a smile of their face. Kind of different to see such "commradery" these days.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
bring even more plays to the area. At the same time keeping the prices down so those of us who normally don't get to attend such things, can still go. Making sure everyone who would be interested would be able to find out. Share more of the enthusiasm.
Ways to make it better...
there had been larger audiences. Even though we REALLY enjoyed the plays, it would have felt better knowing that the word had been really getting out there that such wonderful things were going on right here under everyones' noses.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
making themselves Known and getting the monies necessary to do that. There are many things around the area, just not that many for the community to learn more about the arts and help develop the self esteem of so many. Stopping "Burn-Out" a challange!
One thing I'd also say is that...
with the 10 million $ ...pay yourselves so that those who have frazzled yourselves trying to keep "giving" can keep giving and teaching and sharing and helping promote and learn ART of all kinds. Thankyou. Thankyou. Our first play was with you folks!!!
