As an experienced greyhound owner with over 15 years of sharing life, travel and love with greyhounds, I applied to this group to adopt another pup after my last beauty went to her great reward. In addition to making the required application fee, providing stellar vet and friend references all of whom reported back they provided timely and glowing reviews of my ability to love and care for a greyhound; after two months of attending adoption events, two months of letting the head of this adoption group tell me again and again that the particular dogs (there were 4 different dogs I would have taken) I was interested in were "not right for you" (I have had 6 Greys in my lifetime all of whom lived and loved past their 14th year-information my vet conveyed), after 6 months of the adoption group head telling me to come the next week and the next week and maybe she could find a match for me (she only offered up a hard to place dog that required Prozac daily and as my dogs walk 3 to 4 times a day in a bustling neighborhood - I told her that was not workable- which she then used to insinuate I was not committed to the process) I went to another group, hours away, paid their application fee, did their reference check, drove to them, met a dog, paid the adoption fee and brought him home. He is wonderful and I am thrilled I met and have him, but Paula and the Forever Home group in Albany wasted my time, two months of my time, never returned my fee (they cleverly state in their materials basically if you don't take the dog these strangers select for you you do not get the application fee back), and were very snarky and difficult to work with. I am sure they love the dogs and should be commended for their work in rescue, but the placement process they use seems to be a large power trip for the woman that runs the organization who takes your money and expects you to submit to her analysis of you, your life and family. Save yourself time, money and a ride on someone else's power trip - go to another adoption group even if it is hours away.
