CiCi, a 4 year old small cattle dog, had lived in an alley for 9 months after her person passed away. The horrible people who became responsible for her care neglected her terribly. She survived only because of kind neighbors who recognized that CiCi was now alone fending for herself. The neighbors left food and water in the alley for her but were never able to get close enough to rescue her. The neighbors made many failed attempts to corral CiCi and finally they called in the help of German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County. Within 24 hours, CiCi was safely in their lifeboat. She trusted no one, constantly shook with fear and tucked her tail so tight that it was plastered to her belly. The veteran rescuers knew it would take time for her to trust again as they began her rehabilitation. I was fortunate to witness CiCi's transformation from scared and shrunken to confident and puffed up . My greatest gift was when CiCi was ready for adoption and she picked me! I adore her and she adores me! I love to watch her prance around proudly with her tail pointing to the sky.
The amazing volunteers at German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County used their knowledge and compassion to save CiCi's life. I am forever grateful to them.
