I have taken over 15 missions teams to an orphanage run by FFHM in the last 7 years. After our first visit, we were impressed not only by their care for the children and engagement in bringing transformation to their poverty stricken community but also by how easily we built lasting relationships with the staff and ministry leaders at the mission. We went to Mexico expecting to be put to work. Instead they incorporated us into their ministries, building lasting friendships with us and helping us learn to love the people of that culture. Because of that we began taking multiple trips a year, taking families down to serve. The positive impact on our families and church have been immeasurable, giving us the motivation to help transform our own city by reaching out to those in poverty. My two sons, who went down many times, said they treasured our vacations which were spent there instead of going to traditional vacation spots. Their values in life and appreciation for other cultures grew out of those trips and both are now on paths to careers in ministry and missions thanks to the mission's influence.
