Review for Foundation for His Ministry, San Clemente, CA, USA
About 10 years ago my wife attended a meeting of ladies (WINGS) ( Women in God's Service) who were doing a project for FFHM in Baja, Mexico. I volunteered to drive the truck to the ware house in San Clemente, Ca. & I met Charla & the staff there. I have never met anyone like Charla. We talked about the orphanage & how it came about. The story is in her book "Charla's Children. She said that if "God gives you a vision, He will equip you to carry out that mission". Not long after that our church took a team of about 45 high & middle school students & staff for a week. As the sign sez in the dinning hall "You will never be the same" is so true. The WINGS ladies did projects twice a year so I became the truck driver to deliver what ever it was they were working on. Between times my wife & I made several trips on our own over the years. Every other year we took a team from our church. The staff at the orphanage are so dedicated & many have been there many years. Many programs are run, picking up handicap children in the AM, returning to the orphanage, putting clean clothes on them, washing their clothes, feeding a hardy breakfast, schooling. The end of the day they are dressed in their own clothes & taken back to where they live. Their parents are in the fields working. Several times a week the staff & volunteers make a peanut butter run with games & the Gospel to the older children. There are outreach into communities in the evening with food & help for the parents on reading, writing & math. Sometimes a movie is shown. Our kids play with theirs & a good time is had by all. This past July we had a team of 45 from our church, with the youngest being 10 & the oldest 82. You can read another book, "God Among Us" for stories of the children who have lived at the orphanage, & gone on to live lives such as doctors, dentist, pastors, missionaries for their own country. The 2 year Bible college trains many students who stay in Mexico to minister their own people. I believe that God is equipping
this "vision" that He gave Charla many years ago. So many are blessed by this mission, those that come & serve, the staff & volunteers as well as the all the kids that pass through this place. PTL!!
