In the 70's I heard about an ordinary lady who was establishing an orphange in Baja by rescuing chidren from the Tijuana garbage dump. In the 80's I did a remodel for a pharmacist who was on the board of a Baja Orphanage. He and his wife were constantly taking loads of items and serving there. In 2008 we began serving on staff at a small church in Laguna Woods, CA. A 79 year old man sang solos, and my husband worked with him in music. His wife is the ordinary woman who has now been directing this immense ministry for almost 50 years! I read her book, became a supporter and volunteer with the monthly mailings. THEN I WENT DOWN FOR A VISIT . . . It's not just an orphanage . .it is a VILLAGE. A school for handicapped, a feeding program, clothing, fire station, radio station, medical clinic, church, Bible school, and a macadamia orchard. It has been 3 years since my visit, and I constantly feel a pull there. It is a MOST worthwhile non profit!
