Review for Aurora Waldorf School, West Falls, NY, USA
This private school has been in our area for almost 25 years, and is part of the international Waldorf School Movement, which approaches learning from a perspective of bringing the right curriculum for the children's developmental stage. The academics are rigorous and brought in such a way that they are integrated with the arts, thus allowing all aspects of the child to become active: head, heart and hands. A lesson in geography for example will be accompanied by creating maps of the area under investigation, learning songs and dances of that locality. Music, woodwork, handwork, painting, drawing, sketching as well as a vigorous movement curriculum insure the healthy development of the children, providing them with a strong foundation not just for a flourishing intellect, but also for a strong moral integrity and dedication to service. It is an excellent school that I have had the honor of being part of over the past 12 years as a teacher. Both of my children attended there and are now self confident on the road to adulthood.
Review for The Gow School, South Wales, NY, USA
As a professional who has worked for decades with children and youth challenged by learning disabilities, I have been deeply impressed by the dedicated and steadfast role the Gow School has played in instilling hope and self confidence for hundreds of young lives. They played an active and leading role in the professional community through hosting workshops on cutting edge research in the field. When our son, with severe dyslexia, became a student there we were blessed to experience Gow from the perspective of parents as well. We saw our son, who was still struggling with reading in 6th Grade, flourish under their expert guidance and see him now studying pre-med at Boston College. Thank you Gow!
