I have seen first hand how stressful it can be for a family when a child contracts cancer. It is not only emotionally devastating, but can also become financially overwhelming. Home Away Boston helps to reduce both the emotional and financial anxiety by providing families with comfortable long-term accommodations for the course of the child's treatment. Without the housing provided by Home Away Boston, these families would not have the resources to stay in the Boston area and would most likely have to forgo the specialized care available at MGH. Home Away Boston provides a vital service for a fragile and underserved population.
