Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've been privileged to be a veterinary advisor for PPS since the mid 1990's. They have the highest standards of care for the New World primates. The habitats, diet, and medical care are first rate. Their educational programs and public outreach keep them in the forefront of how animal sanctuaries should be run. They are a model facility.

Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been privileged to be able to work with PPS since the late 1990's. I was first contacted for advice while I was working at a regional primate center. Since then I have visited numerous times, reviewed the facility, protocols, procedures and met with staff. I have done some staff training as well as general non human primate education sessions for the general public - to let them know about the animals and mission of PPS. PPS is a model for sanctuaries and does a fabulous job of caring for the monkeys for their whole lives.

Review for WASHINGTON FERRET ASSOCIATION, Kirkland, WA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been involved with the Washington Ferret Association dba Washington Ferret Rescue & Shelter since its inception in 1998. I have served for years as the Medical Director, and more recently just as am member of the Board. The Shelter has grown from housing under a dozen ferrets to now caring for over 200 at any given time through housing in the two facilities or through the foster program. The shelter is totally volunteer-staffed. All funds raised go for the care of the ferrets. Many of the ferrets surrendered have major medical problems and require on-going therapy. The shelter is a no-kill shelter and ends up caring for many in a hospice program. They are a 501 (c) 3 charity, www.washingtonferret.org

Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a consulting veterinarian for Pacific Primate Sanctuary since the late 1990's. I have seen their dedication to building and maintaining a state-of-the-art facility to care for these threatened and endangered species of New World non-human primates. The program has grown considerably as the need for a sanctuary for these species has continued to grow. They provide optimal nutrition and husbandry for these animals. They have a growing educational program which not only trains primatologists but their outreach teaches the general public about nonhuman primates, ecology and conservation. Their medical care is top-notch for the animals. They keep extremely detained observations and records on the animals, and the overall facility goes far beyond what the regulations require. They are a model animal sanctuary in all aspects.

Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have had the privilege of working with the Sanctuary for over 15 years in a consulting role concerning the health of the monkeys. The facility is exemplary and its nutrition, husbandry, and preventive health program as well as any necessary health care are far beyond what zoos can do for their animals. Their animals live to old age in a beautiful habitat where their physical and mental needs are met. The Sanctuary program is visionary for these animals. Lucy Wormser as Director has established a fabulous program and facility.

Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have the pleasure of having worked with Lucy Wormser and the Pacific Primate Sanctuary for over 15 years. The program has expanded and continues to deliver fantastic care for rescued New World primates. As a non-profit in addition to the actual animal care, they serve to educate the public on the natural history of these animals, behaviors, the ecology, and the role man is playing in their status as either threatened or endangered species. PPS plays an extremely important role in getting the work out.
