Review for Brandywine Conservancy & Museum Of Art, Chadds Ford, PA, USA
I remember as a child in High School visiting the museum and seeing Night Sleepers for the first time. I was so mesmerized as I listened to the tour guide say that the work was done with egg tempera. In my mind all I heard was eggs. I thought wow Andrew Wyeth paints with eggs. Even though that was strange to me the work stayed with me forever. I am now an egg tempera painter myself, showing my work nationally, winning awards, and painting beautiful works in egg tempera. I owe it all to that one visit as a child that haunted me with the beauty of Andrew's work. I live in Texas now so I don't get to visit as often as I would like. However every time I go back to PA one of my most important goals is to always go back to the museum where I got the original inspiration as a child to be an artist and breathe anew in the magic that is the Wyeth family tradition.
