Review for Transcultural Exchange Inc, Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

During my first year as a graduate student in Arts Administration I contacted Mary Sherman to volunteer for the first Conference on International Opportunities in the Arts in 2007. She was immediately receptive and invited me to participate on a number of objectives and even went so far to include me in their monthly board meetings. As a student, this was invaluable experience. The combined experience and professionalism of Transcultural Exchange's board gave me an insight into how collaboration took place at the highest level. The entire board was exceptionally welcoming and took everyone's ideas and strategies into account. It was inspiring that such a small group of people could accomplish such a meaningful experience to so many. Their programming is innovative and important to the overall health and stability of the art world and it's participants. Without organizations such as Transcultural Exchange it would be more difficult to collaborate with artists from around the world. We would lose the valuable information and ideas that are necessary for the arts to grow across our geographical borders. It was an honor to be a part of the TCE team and I look forward to being able to help again in the future. I thank Mary Sherman for such a wonderful experience. I wish them the best of luck and good fortune.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

create programming that focused on creating artistic relationship with the multitude of cultural groups within Boston.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

getting to meet so many artists from around the world.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

amazing and exceptionally driven to make the first conference a success.

Ways to make it better...

I was able to participate in the 2009 conference, but due to my own geographical restrictions I was unable to.
