Review for Acorn Productions, Westbrook, ME, USA
I have worked with Acorn as a performer, a volunteer and now a Board Member. Acorn's commitment to supporting the theatrical arts community is unparelleled. I started my relationship with Acorn through it's Maine Playwright's Festival. I had taken a long hiatus from theatrical pursuits and found this opportunity to be a wonderful way of getting my feet wet again. My experience with the Festival was incredibly positive and rewarding. Acorn brings together passionate and talented individuals who have a deep desire to make quality theater accessible to the public. Programs like Naked Shakespeare help draw in audiences who might otherwise never experience live theater. I cannot reccomend Acorn Productions highly enough.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
getting children excited about theatrical arts. Acorn's summer camps and children's classes offer excellent opportunities for children to develop a love of live theater.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the inclusiveness of the organization. Acorn makes theater accessible to many individuals. It does not intimidate or deter.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
dedicated, experienced and knowledgable.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Exponentially increase the positive impact it has on the self-esteem of children who participate in its programs. Develop more opportunities for up and coming talents to showcase their work. Create more theater for the people of Greater Portland.
Ways to make it better...
the was more funding to support programs!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
finding funding opportunities, getting the word out about programs and getting better community involvement.
