Review for Morgan Family Legacy Foundation, Leawood, KS, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Morgan Family Legacy Foundation has been instrumental in funding research Plastic Ocean Project has done on plastic to oil with the hope to create a circular economy from plastic waste. We are working on getting this technology to island nations that have a huge plastic waste problem while having to have fuel shipped to their islands. Imagine reducing plastic pollution and a huge carbon footprint simultaneously. It is through sponsorships like from the Morgan Family Legacy Foundation that these huge strides can and will create the change we want to see in the world.

Review for Plastic Ocean Project Inc, Wilmington, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Plastic Ocean Project, Inc (POP) started in 2008 as a graduate student thesis project in Wilmington, NC. After traveling nearly 10,000 nm and witnessing the proliferation of plastic in some of the most remote places on the planet, a small group of volunteers work together to form the much needed non-profit who's mission is to combat plastic pollution. POP is the first to be founded on the east coast solely focusing on marine plastics through scientific research, using art to educate the masses on the devastating effects plastics have on marine life, and collaborating with industry wanting to reduce those impacts. POP has grown in number, enlisting ambassadors around the country creating these changes we want to see in the world, working with charter fishermen to collect ocean trash, restaurants to reduce giving out plastic straws, and innovators that turn plastic waste into a resource. Once we focus on innovating materials that have an end of life function, we will create the much needed circular economy where nothing is "wasted."

Review for Ocean Defenders Alliance, Huntington Beach, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Ocean Defenders Alliance has talked the talk AND walked the walk. they physically remove derelict fishing gear that can potentially maim and/or kill marine life at the risk of causing themselves injury. There are not many organizations that put themselves on the line in order to project marine life, one pot, one line, one net at a time. This line of work is financially as well as labor intensive. They get the job done with visual results. Thank you ODA for getting manmade debris out of the ocean and marine life out of harms way.
