Review for Transcultural Exchange Inc, Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

TransCultural Exchange is a phenomenal organization! Using art as a catalyst to open doors for cross-cultural communication is perhaps one of the most effective means possible. Mary Sherman, the Executive Director, is a visionary and is involved with each and every detail of each project, conference and initiative, ensuring perfection. I happily assisted her for over three years, and was always amazed at the experiences and power that art played in people’s lives, especially when it allowed them to learn something about another culture through the arts that they may have not otherwise ever had the opportunity. The artist and art exchanges TransCultural Exchange facilitated reached children and adults alike, and provided them with an open forum to ask questions, get answers, forge a resilient dialogue, and experience new cultures. My specific experience with The Tile Project: Destination, the World which created permanent art installations that were not only beautiful, but a standing testament to the power art provides – bringing people from all parts of the world together in a unified statement of kinship and understanding. TransCultural Exchange’s conferences further the advancements in opening doors for global communication through the arts - bringing influential speakers, artists, and cultural figures together in one place to provide opportunities for a vast audiences' involvement. I encourage anyone to join TransCultural Exchange’s mission whether it be as a donor, volunteer, or artist – it will open your eyes to the power of the human spirit and the arts.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

...seeing the power that art played allowing people to learn something about another culture through the arts that they may have not otherwise ever had the opportunity.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

...not change a thing. The mission is one that anyone could get behind and be moved by it's successes.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

...the ability to work with some of the world's most creative people, from all across the globe. I learned so much and gained a true appreciation for other cultures.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

...diverse and dedicated. Mary Sherman handles every detail with such passion and dedication, and fosters great relationships between donors, artists, and students at each event.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

...advance arts as a successful form of global communication and enlightenment in times of great stife.

Ways to make it better...

...TransCultural Exchange has consistent funding. With more funding a strong staff would propel TCE by leaps and bounds, and each project would attract a larger and more influential audience.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

...monetary challenges. The resiliency of the Executive Director and artists manages to make the most of every contribution, but they could soar with more funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

everyone should check out their website, contact TCE, and get involved.
