Review for People for Guatemala Inc, Naples, FL, USA
I was referred to Lois by the Executive Director of my organization because I am trying to build an effective community health program. Not only are Lois, Ken and Amilcar exceedingly kind and generous but the work they do is an invaluable example of how development and aid by non-profits must be undertaken in developing-world countries. In the day that I spent with them, observing, I watched as they guided and empowered multiple communities to think critically and cohesively about mobilizing various projects that would provide the community access to basic necessities. I was shocked to learn that there are entire communities of people without any access to water. I cried when board members of one community entered to personally thank Lois and Amilcar for their aid in their community water project. Each man's voice shook with emotion as they expressed their initial doubts in Amilcar, their satisfaction with the completed project and their gratitude for their support. People for Guatemala not only delivers justice to people by supplying basic necessities but also creates stronger communities. I was amazed and moved.
