When I first moved to DC, one of the first pieces of professional advice I got was to join WIFV. I did and I got a full-time job shortly thereafter. I'm pretty sure every full-time job I've had in DC I found because of WIFV. It's an amazing network of passionate people and a fantastic resource for its members. It's also one of the only organizations of its kind that I know of that gives back to its members via literal funding for projects. I have been a member for 12 years now and a board member for going on 4. I highly recommend wifv to any media professionals, and particularly those in the DC metro area.

Women in Film & Video is a great resource for anyone working in the industry, both in DC and beyond. I have found several jobs through their email listserve, gone to countless wonderful panels and events, and have made inroads with what turned out to be a very supportive community of filmmakers. Their listserve is amazing - you can find anything you need, even if it's not film-related (but especially if it is). I can't speak highly enough of WIFV. I would not have as high quality a career in the DC video production scene if it weren't for this organization.
