My Nonprofit Reviews

Steve
Review for Jewish Vocational & Career Counseling Service, San Francsico, CA, USA
I have been a volunteer and board member for JVS for the last 13 years. I endorse everything said by the other reviewers about how effectively JVS meets its critical mission of connecting people with work. Perhaps I have remained involved so long because this agency, under the remarkable stewardship of its Executive Director and other committed professionals, is dynamic and nimble enough to adapt to changing economic conditions - all to the benefit of JVS's thousands of individual clients. More than anything else, helping people achieve their own potential, whether through finding the right job or through skills training, is the measure of JVS's success. I cannot imagine time or other resources better spent than in support of this organization.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
speaking with recent graduates of a JVS training program. The graduates' achievements were remarkable as was their pride and enhanced sense of self-worth.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
grow the agency so that it can serve more people.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
knowing that every effort of the agency leads to direct positive results on individuals that can reverberate through families and communities and which can last a lifetime.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Consciencious, intelligent, compassionate and dedicated.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Help an immense number of Bay Area youth, high school and community college students be better prepared to get good jobs, have a stronger foundation for career ladders and, ultimately, contribute and give back to their communities.
Ways to make it better...
I could devote more time to the agency.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
economic circumstances which raise obstacles to finding work.
One thing I'd also say is that...
JVS is a results-driven organization. It is keenly aware that all the effort in the world matters only if it can positively impact lives. That makes JVS an effective, productive and invaluable asset to the Bay Area nonprofit community.
