My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Free Press, Washington, DC, USA
I was a summer intern for Free Press in the Florence office and was very satisfied by the warm welcome I got from all of the friendly staff. The work I was given all contributed to the overall goals of Free Press, I was given thorough training on both the issues we worked with and the tools we used and was afforded a lot of flexibility by my supervisors.
Instead of getting coffee for others, like in many unpaid corporate internships, I was given a small stipend and instead of fetching coffee, was given it free every morning with explicit instructions to NOT make it in the morning.
The work that Free Press does plays an integral part in protecting internet freedom. I had the chance to talk with people all around the country during my time with Free Press and heard both impressive and appalling stories about the lives of our supporters and the trials and tribulations of dealing with the corruption of the telecommunication industry. Free Press truly is a supporter-based organization is does a wonderful job at mobilizing and empowering their many supporters around the country. Whether its through a Senate Judiciary Field Hearing in Vermont, a panel with FCC Chairman Wheeler in New Mexico or a rally at a Presidential Fundraiser in Los Angeles, Free Press impressed me with its strong network of supporters around the country and ability to tap into this invaluable resource.
