Review for Easter Seals Southwest Florida, Sarasota, FL, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I love the people there. They are the sweetest people. (the clients) The staff/ 1/2 and 1/2 some of them there love it . and they stay because they love it and love what they do. others are burned out. and need to
be replaced. l love how they offer the dance night and the happy hour for the clients. IT gives the clients time to be themselves and time to be with others just like them. Have what we as ( Normal, whatever that is) have a dance night and have a productive life instead of just laying around. Gives them a place to go and to get therapy , OT, PT etc depending on the need. The clients are so much fun. Don Herndon is amazing. I love the programs that Easter Seals has to help put people to work. Gives the Testing of different skills set to find out what type of job someone would be qualified for. Makes u think , I know I did. Ex I never thought of a Factory Job, still wouldn't but its nice to know I have the skills to apply for one. You learn things about yourself with those test. Plus I went there to after the testing to do a job resume, it turned into a Job interview That I held for 3 years and left for medical reasons. Loved the job. To be honest, That was my favorite job I have ever held. I learned I missed my calling. Thank you Easter Seals for showing me where my heart lies. Until this day , the clients that use to be there, call me and I have stayed in touch with quite a few of them.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make sure The workers don't get burn out, Find a way to make that happen. That way the clients get the best care they deserve. Do surprise check in on the workers that have been there a long time they are the ones who have the burn out. The job can be taxing . Most workers who stay in this field a long time do care. Just make sure they don't get the burn out.

Review for Sarasota Manatee Association For Riding Therapy Inc, Bradenton, FL, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I loved it. I feel its a well needed and useful service to those who are special needs and even those who have been injured. The others that work there have a great heart and love what they do. To volunteer there you feel as though you are making a difference. The clients who are in need of the services love the horses and its amazing the relationship between the horses and the clients. ITs like the horses know for example if someone was blind, or in need of special care. The horses are so intune to the riders. Its a joy to watch and to be a part of, even if I can only help once in a while. I love it when I am able to.

I personally think it would be great for the geriatric clients/patients who don't get to be around many people etc to be a part of it would be great. From what I know of it. , isnt' a whole lot. but To my understanding, The program does not extend to the Elderly . I think that would be really nice.

Thanks so much Tamara!! We have always appreciated your help, even it if was just once in a while. You are welcome anytime!! :) And yes, we do serve the elderly, as well. Our most senior participant was a 96 year old woman who was visually impaired and she learned to drive Carly! With that being said, about 80% of our participants are under 18.
