We have a seven year old daughter with multiple disabilities but who continues to exceed every expectation ever placed on her. We come to Adam's Camp as a family with both our daughters. Our older daughter is the best big sister ever so it is so nice for her to be with other siblings who really understand her life. Then my husband and I get 6 hours of greatly needed respite each day as the girls lives are truly being changed. The therapists that work with our daughter, NEVER place limits in her and we believe this is the reason she makes incredible gains each week we spend at Snow Mountain Ranch. She has continued to meet a milestone each year we have been at camp. She does do therapy the entire year and has a wonderful school program, but there is just something about being in the multi modal therapies, with people who truly care about her and know her abilities are far beyond what anyone else thinks, that let her truly make breakthroughs we never thought possible. The volunteers who work with her sister make sure she knows how important she is as a person as like any family with a child with special needs, that child needs a lot of time and energy and siblings sometimes feel like they are "second", no matter how hard we try to let them know just how "special" they are just for being themselves. We simply consider everyone a part of our extended family and they always let us know, we are just family and treat us all in ways we sometimes wish our biological families could with an understanding that is hard to find in the world we live in. At this point, we cannot imagine our life without Adam's Camp and all the wonderful things that come with it. It is a camp but the people that choose to spend their time with our family instead of their own are the true hero's and they will never know how much their support, understanding and "life without limits" way of thinking has done for our daughter and all of us as her family! Once you are part of the Adam's Camp family, you will always have someone ready to advocate, listen, help, explain and simply just love for who you are and where you are in this amazing journey of having a child with special needs.
