If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
change management. I got under the impression that the Director is more worried about her self-promotion than the organization. it was very disorganized and chaotic. Hopefully they have improved since then.The staff and volunteers are a different story, they are very committed to what they do, you can feel their passion for helping.
