Review for Jacobs Ladder Job Center, Inc., Charlotte, NC, USA
I have been volunteering weekly at Jacob's Ladder since 2006. It is a great way for business people to serve the poor and jobless, because they need the skills that we have. The clients at Jacob's Ladder are in great need of a job, and they are highly motivated to succeed. I highly recommend Jacob's Ladder

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Seeing clients I have worked with get jobs and thank me for it. Also, it is great to see the lightbulb go off above someone's head.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I enjoy the one on one interaction with the clients. Also, this is my way of taking the huge national questions like unemployment and how to help the poor and making it real and personal. You realize that the bumper sticker generalities do not apply.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Most volunteers are current or retired business people. All are great people. The staff is highly motivated and skilled, but understaffed.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Hire additional staff. Maybe move from job skills to job training for specific jobs.
Ways to make it better...
Sometimes communication with volunteers could be better. I have shown up on my regular day, only to find the place shut down. This has not happened in the past year and a half.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
The need is so great.
One thing I'd also say is that...
This is a very rewarding way to make a difference.
