I have been involved with this organization for over 10 years. First as a host family, second as a coordinator and a host family. This is one of the most rewarding organizations to volunteer for. You are getting to experience the world by sharing your home with an international student. I have hosted 10 students in my home from 5 different countries. My family and I have gained so much from this when actually we thought that it was us that was giving to the student. Take a chance on this. You and your family will be happy you did. Your coordinator will be with you all along the way to help you out.

My family and I have hosted 8 students through Share! We started hosting because my son asked us to help out a friend. We continue hosting because of what we received out of the program. We thought we were going to help these students but somehow along the way, we fell in love with these kids (we had two boys our first year). I often questioned what the "Share" or "Exchange" part was since our children were not going to another country, but I have learned we exchanged our ideas and culture with another student and they share and exchange their culture with our family. These kids start as a picture on a profile but leave as my child. In fact one of my "children" have come home to visit this month. He is from Brazil and stayed with us year before last. He will be here for the month of July. This is a relationship that lasts a lifetime, not just the 9 months they are here. I strongly advise anyone that is curious about the program to call. The coordinators are here to answer any questions and help you through the process. This is a very rewarding program for the student as well as the families. It has made a difference in my family.
