Review for National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, Inc., Santa Paula, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I'm so happy to support this wonderful charity...it is MY FAVORITE! I have followed them for 5-6 years, and have sponsored a dog the last 2 years, and will sponsor another one this year, also! I love the idea that they obtain their candidate dogs from shelters, donated dogs or from no-kill organizations.....the dogs who prove suitable to become a Search & Rescue dog find their "new career", and are so happy with their new job! The trained dogs are donated to a Fire Department at the successful end of their 9 months training. Here are the 2 dogs I have sponsored in the last 2 years...Clancy and Merlin (shown with their wonderful firefighter handlers)!

One of my facorite charities!! Dogs are recruited from Rescues and strays, or abandoned animals. They are then trained for 9 months to the speciality of Search & Rescue.. If they pass the rigorous training program, then are then paired with a Firefighter, and donated to his/ her fire department! This is taking a discarded dog ( who would probably be euthanized), and giving them a full and rewarding life!! This is all funded with private donations....how much better could it be???

I have written a Review earlier this year, but I'm so impressed with NDSDF that I sponsored a dog this year. My Labrador boy, "Clancy", will be graduating day after tomorrow, and will be paired with his new Firefighter/Handler, and donated to their Fire Department! I am so excited for Clancy and his new career!!

NDSDF's new training facility continues to make BIG progress due to generous donors, volunteers, and collaboration with other Organizations. I am delighted to be one of their donors!

When another disaster strikes where search dog units are deployed, I'll be watching the TV for Clancy climbing over the rubble!

I donate to NDSDF several times a year, and make a large donation at the end of the year. I have followed the growth of this Organization, and am impressed with the work they perform. They rescue dogs from shelters, (that may otherwise be euthanized), and train them to learn the work of Search and Rescue, then donate the dogs...free of charge..to a fire department. I continue to be impressed with the work they do.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
