Review for Irvine Public Schools Foundation, Irvine, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My daughters, ages 15 and 13, have been attending Irvine schools since kindergarten, and throughout the years, they have participated and benefitted from numerous IPSF programs: Afterschool Classroom Enrichment (ACE) courses, Instrument Rental, Honors Concert, GATE Enrichment Days, and Summer Programs. I’ve been involved with IPSF as an IPSF Ambassador for my daughters’ schools, a donor, and in the past four years, as a member of its Board of Trustees. I’m proud to support IPSF in different capacities because I believe in its mission.

In addition to enriching education for IUSD students, every year IPSF provides grants to IUSD teachers and counselors through the Innovative Teachers Awards Program (ITAP) and the Innovative Counseling Awards Program (ICAP). Two of my daughters’ teachers have been recipients of these grants. My high school daughter has learned how to design and create 3D items in her Computer Graphics class, and my youngest daughter has benefitted from the additional laptops in her classroom. Moreover, every summer, IPSF has partnered with community organizations to coordinate the Program to Advance Cultural Education (PACE), where teachers learn about Chinese, Korean and Persian history and culture. These three-day seminars are free for the teachers and are designed to further deepen their understanding of the various cultures in their classroom. I help organize the PACE on Chinese History and Culture and have experienced first-hand the positive impact of such program on the teachers and the students they teach. This is a very unique IPSF program that promotes cultural understanding and appreciation.

As a parent, I’m grateful for IPSF’s funding for music, art, technology, science, classroom support, and nurses benefitting all IUSD students; funding that is not provided by the state of California. IPSF has a dynamic, creative and dedicated staff that works tirelessly year round to organize numerous fundraising events. I’m a proud supporter of IPSF, both as a volunteer and a donor, because I know they make a difference in every child’s life!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find more ways to promote IPSF; to make more parents, businesses, and community members aware of the existence of IPSF and its mission, and then involve them in IPSF activities and events.
