I have volunteered here a few times through work and as an animal enthusiast I can say that few places in the US are as impressive in terms of a true animal sanctuary as The Wild Animal Sanctuary. The director, Pat has spent his life rescuing mostly large carnivores from terrible conditions and giving them a little slice of heaven to live out their lives free of people and all of the cruelties they have known. It truly is a spectacular place that is bringing a world of good to their animals.
