I have adopted 3 Yorkies from FYR and their big heart doesn't stop there. Taking in dogs, restoring their health and finding forever homes is just the beginning. There has been many times I had questions or concerns regarding one of my rescued pups and Kit Roche, President/Founder of FYR, made time to offer advice and guidance. I am now a proud volunteer with FYR. Being part of the Transport Team is a rewarding experience. The volunteers are truly a team, coordinating picking up a dog, and transporting him/her from point A to point B. Once a forever home is carefully chosen, we all celebrate the joy of another dog becoming a happy and loved member of a new family.

Florida Yorkie Rescue (FYR) is without a doubt the finest nonprofit animal rescue, hands down. I have had the privilege of adopting 2 Yorkies in October of 2012, Scarlett & Savannah. FYR's on-line application is thorough and detailed to assist FYR in making a sound decision regarding placing the ideal dog in the perfect home. FYR checks references, their home visit is conducted by a volunteer to ensure that the adopted dog will be living in a safe environment. All these points were important to me because FYR cares about placement. The dogs are well cared for while FYR has possession. They are fully vaccinated, teeth cleaned, etc. The small fee required to rescue helps to cover the expense of medical attention and miscellaneous fees while the pet was at FYR. I also clearly remember Kit explaining the personality of the first 2 dogs I adopted, they were and still are exactly as she said. Kit devotes her time to the care and getting to know all the dogs taken into FYR. Soon after I wanted to be part of FYR and became a volunteer. Once again, March 2014, I adopted a senior Yorkie, Willow, Yorkies are like potato chips, you can't have just one and you will never need to go any further than FYR to add love and happiness to your home. Everyone, the board members, the volunteers, the veterinarians FYR uses are fully dedicated to the well being of these dogs.

I was blessed to have found Florida Yorkie Rescue. Three and a half years I adopted 2 beautiful female Yorkies. They were in great health and had even well cared for while at FYR. The application and interview was very pleasant. Every representative from FYR was a gem, and very helpful. Because of these reasons 2 years ago I adopted another 9 yr old senior female Yorkie. Once again FYR was outstanding. I look forward to referring my friends to them and when I want another pup/dog I will definitely look no further than Florida Yorkie Rescue.

Almost 2 years ago I adopted 2 beautiful female Yorkies. I fell in love with them from a photo and description of the personality on the FYR site. Once I spoke with FYR I knew I needed both dogs. They both had been well taken care of when I met them to bring them to their forever home. The girls were socialized and Florida Yorkie Rescue was responsible for these beautiful girls. 18 months later there was a pitiful tiny senior girl who at 9 yrs old, missing all of her teeth and a bit timid due to her prior living conditions, she needed me to adopt her. She was going to fit in with my original male and the other adopted girls.
I am so impressed about the perfect descriptions and mannerisms Florida Yorkie Rescue is able to provide. All 3 of the dogs I adopted are EXACTLY the way Kit described them to me. She is amazing with these animals and the group of volunteers are all just as wonderful. When they came to do a home visit, the representative was like meeting a friend. Very helpful volunteers, very thorough.
