Review for Cambodian Children's Fund, Santa Monica, CA, USA
I first heard of CCF in 2012 after seeing a program on TV featuring Scott Neeson and the fantastic work he has done in setting up this NGO. I was so impressed and inspired by someone who selflessly gives so much to so many, that I had to do something myself. I am a regular traveler to Thailand from Adelaide, Australia so "calling past" Cambodia was something I had to do. I needed to find out more, donated some money, met some of the friendly staff and find how I can do more. Becoming even more inspired, I promised I would return.
Keeping my promise, I returned in early May this year to be taken on a tour of all the CCF facilities and programs that provide such a professional, structured and wholistic approach to the community. I now sponsor a child and actively spread the word of CCF to my family, friends and work colleagues. Some of whom have donated money and cameras to assist with the Child Protection Unit who do a heartbreaking job with such pride, professionalism, respect and dignity.
Vocational training has a strong focus within CCF which is my area of expertise. I can tell you that the vocational programs being offered are an excellent example of what can be done with likeminded people coming together to provide a strong future for not only individuals and communities, but for an entire country.
After being in Phnom Penh for only 4 days, I found it hard to walk away. Feeling a range of emotions from despair to shock then joy, amazement, pride, admiration, inspiration, etc.
I WILL return and I WILL do more.
