I am a founding principal of Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. an International engineering and design firm, and I am chairmen of the Thornton Tomasetti Foundation. Our foundation provides funding for both student scholarships and philantropic projects that help the Design and Construction Industry and people in need. GeoHazard's programs do both. That is why we have supported them with grants for the last two years for student involvment with world class engineering research on the behavior of concrete frames with infills to resist seismic forces. Much of their work helps in under- developed countries and teaches the local professionals and people how to apply the results. It is this synergistic effect of advancing research, educating students and teaching the local population that makes the work of GeoHadzards so effective. I have also found their pre-grant proposals and post -grant reports to be very complete and informative. Our Board of Governors is very pleased with our relationship with GeoHazards.
