I was with CCF for 2 months , February and March 2014. I am still dreaming about the wonderful people I met there!
The volunteers are taken care of well and the practical arrangements made for meeting and maintaining a supportive contact meant so much to me personally as I had never ventured outside Europe before!
It was the most enriching and uplifting experience and I am in awe of Scott and his team who strive relentlessly to provide for these desperately poor families in Steung Meanchey.
Immediately I could witness the diversity of their work which is carried out not only through Education, but pastoral , health and welfare support for families. In fact every week I heard about another project which was being developed.
The children are hugely engaging and clearly delighted to be part of this organisation where they know they are cared for and loved-the key to any child's happiness.
I was placed with 3 classes and really enjoyed working alongside 3 hard-working teachers within a great staff. I felt valued and that I had made some positive contributions.
A I had some management experience as a Deputy Head in UK, I was delighted to be asked to work on the Teacher Development Programme and led English language lessons for the teachers and workshops for the Education Officers. All the Education staff were so welcoming and keen to develop their skills. I felt immediately part of a team committed to supporting the students learning experiences .
CCF is a place where the human spirit is treasured and I left knowing that I wanted to return to be part of its wonderful work.
