Review for WhyHunger, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Volunteer since 1984 + Board Member since 1987 WHY is the leading organization creating & utilizin vital links to grassroot organizations and various governmental and private programs, in an effort to eliminate hunger and poverty using substantive networking and programatic work.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my observations of success of the Nationwide Food and Hunger Hotline, admistered by WHY and programs like the Harry Chapin Media Awards, rewarding journalists that highligt hunger and poverty, and provide media attention to the challenges worldwide

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

double the size of the budget, increase the size of the staffing and deliver more technology to assist the constintuant grassroot organizations.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

WHY helps humanity.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, honest, and willing to do whatever it takes to assist in reaching the goals of the organizations.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand it's reach 5 fold in all of the programs

Ways to make it better...

the organization had additional funding to expand the reach of many successful programs, and replicate their work to organizations currently outside their reach, stictly for lack of adequate financial and human resources.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Obtaining adequate financial resourses to fuel the expansion of the programs and increase the level of support that WHY provides to the grassroot organizations, and to expand the Food and Hunger Hotline, with resources including technology & office space.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The organization utilizes austere management expenses, and low overhead to deliver a premium product that utilizes 35 years of very useful experience.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
