Review for Society of St. Andrew, Big Island, VA, USA
Society of St. Andrew here in the Asheville, NC area is tops! I had a bumper crop of apples last year, and Bill Walker brought a crew to pick my trees. I'm not a commercial grower, so I never could have picked them myself when the apples were at their prime for eating. My apples were put to good use with our local food bank and a local church meal program in a very impoverished area. This humanitarian effort closed the loop, getting food to those who really need it. I've become a regular donor and couldn't be happier. The Society of St. Andrew is amazingly well organized. They stayed in touch with me by email and phone, and were absolutely on time. Bill, the Director, follow-up with me and told me where my apples went both years. I feel like I am part of a team effort, and learned a trick about making the apples easier for the picking process from watching The Society pick the first year. This spring, I will have the trees pruned to get bigger fruit. We are very blessed to have Society of St. Andrew do the work of gleaning fields and trees to provide food for those who need it most. It's a great organization!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
working with people who share my values about donating food feed the hungry. I did not have connections to get my apples to the food bank. Society of St. Andrew made it happen!
