Review for Magnificat House, Houston, TX, USA
I came to Magnificat House from prison. I had no place to go, and they took me in without question, or at least, a minimal number of questions to determine if I was a danger to others. They gave me a clean room, three good meals a day, direction on how to put my life back together, and perhaps most important of all - spiritual support and hope. The founder, Rose Mary Badami, operates on the philosophy that no one should go hungry, no one should have to sleep on the streets, and what people are looking for is a hand up instead of a handout. While it is not faith based officially, it does tell you where to go to get help, and the first place is God. With a chapel on site, as well as a convent of nuns, who also help with the administration, there is a spiritual resonance without a word being said.
