Review for Museum Of Science And Industry Endowment Inc, Tampa, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I made the first donation $10,000 to MOSI to start the Endowment. I believe that a mature institution like MOSI has much to offer everyone of all ages and talents but this science center needs a significant endowment to provide scholarships in the Tampa Bay Community so that all can enjoy and learn from the hundreds of experiences that they offer. My donations go to a restricted endowment account for summer science camp classes. I can start my own named endowment account for a minimum gift of $25,000 which will remain in perpetuity. There is the Dr. Carl Riggs fund for supporting a scientist in residence program, another for supporting Hispanic children at MOSI, the Dr. Richard Bowers Memorial Fund and others. A separate board meets monthly to maximize the investments and has grown my investments. I think this year the fund was up just over 16%.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make the mission of this important Endowment more well known in the community. Great return on your investment; young people experiencing STEAM; science, technology, engineering, art/design and math for enjoyment and potential careers

I have been donating to MOSI, the Museum of Science & Industry for the last 26 years. Their use of my money has provided for scholarships for young people to participate in a fabulous summer science classes, built the 8th largest science center in the U.S. My own son took classes and now is a professor at LSU in digital art and design. His knowledge of technology, appreciation of a free choice learning environment and his love of creativity came mainly from MOSI. My daughter is a health sciences major in college an got her start in science fairs, experiments, and love of working with people from her participation on the The Kids in Charge Board. I gave $10,000 to help start the MOSI Endowment and it has grown nicely by the volunteer work of the Endowment Board. My funds are in a restricted account for Scholarships for young people so they can have the same benefits from MOSI that my children had.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

get rid of the inflammatory post by that person who obviously holds a very disturbing grudge.
