Review for Self Enquiry Life Fellowship, Penn Valley, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am a seeker, a seeker of truth. I know that this is an involved project that would take the rest of my life. I think I have the patience to persevere. This is also a project I have pursued all my life using different approaches. Each time I have learned some, but I am not completely satisfied. Several questions come to my mind. Do I know what questions to ask? Do I have the necessary attitude and conditioning to understand what are important in life? How do I acquire the calm mind necessary to pursue the path of a seeker?

Here in comes the knowledge of Vedic Heritage, knowledge accumulated and polished by the ancient civilization in India. Swamahiman assimilates and presents these teachings to benefit everyone. It is an inclusive organization in every sense.

What I have learned is to experience the joy of self improvement through proper living. Consuming the right amount of good healthy food (Sathvik Food in Sanskrit), performing good exercise in the form of Yoga which when combined with proper breathing techniques takes one to a higher level of physical conditioning, breathing fresh natural air and avoiding objects and activities that only cater to the senses. A Yoga retreat organized by this organization can lead one along this route and also teach MEDITATION that is joyous and blissful.

Any organization is a sum of its components. When I am among my peers in this organization, I am in a select group that is unique and supportive. Above all it is guided by our teacher (Guru) who understands us with all our shortcomings and always treat us with compassion and understanding.

I have attended five camps and retreats during the last six years. Every time I have emerged as a better person with a less distractions in mind and at peace with the world.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The organization needs a permanent retreat, preferably along a sea coast or on a hill with lots of natural settings. This would make its programs effective and reach a wider audience who would benefit. At the end the world benefits.
