My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Insight Housing, Berkeley, CA, USA
I began by wanted to help somehow and only volunteering once a week. After only a few trips to the BFHP, I incresed by volunteering hours to multiple times a week. The staff I am surrounded by have come to know and respect the individuals that come through those doors searching for a hot meal. Eventually, I have come to be on a personal level with many of the homeless men and women as well. It is such a terrible thing to see, so many people without shelter, but through the BFHP, people have guidance in getting on the right track to finding a home and a job.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
witnessing the grattitude from the individuals who have been able to find a home.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
advertise even more in hopes of gaining the attention of even more volunteers for a life changing experience on both behalves.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the opportunity and the ice breakers that have enabled me to create relationships with homeless members of the community I may not have met otherwise.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
welcoming, vivacious, and always smiling. They love what they do and they brighten the day of so many that come for an afternoon meal.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
change the lives of hundreds or thousands more homeless men and women.
Ways to make it better...
I have yet to find a reason as to why this experience has not been incredible.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
the lack of funds. We are all people belonging to the same city, state, country etc, and there is no reason as to why they are given the short end of the stick due to hard times they may have had in the past.
One thing I'd also say is that...
working with this organization is by far one of the best choices I have ever made. I look forward to every day that I spend volunteering there. It is well run and well intentioned and makes progress everyday.
