My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Childrens Health Council Inc, Palo Alto, CA, USA
I have had the wonderful opportunity over many years to sit at a dynamic intersection and observe CHC from many view points (as a board member, working with impassioned donors, attending external events / internal classroom discussions/graduation ceremonies, as well as watching new initiatives grow and families find solutions).
My involvement on the board is probably best captured between the book-ends of two defining events for me that really captured the spirit and power of their mission. Before I joined the board, I had the opportunity to attend the ‘graduation’ ceremony for the Ester B. Clark School. The sense of accomplishment and the pride these kids felt was awe-inspiring. Listening to the class speakers, just middle-school aged children, express what their experience had meant to them and how they had grown because of it, I couldn’t help but observe their amazing self-awareness and understanding – which was beyond their years (and perhaps beyond my own awareness!). If you ever need to recharge, and remember what life is all about, attend this ceremony! As for my final book-end, I witnessed a young child approach the founding donor of the Sand Hill School, with the most heart-felt thank you I have ever heard. Through her tears, she talked about how much the school has meant to her and how she didn’t know what she would do without it. There is nothing quite like the honesty and purity of a child – and there wasn’t a dry-eye to be found. The work that is being done here is so important and so meaningful to so many souls. These experiences, and many in between, allow me to rate this organization as the best of the best.
Any review would be incomplete without also touching for a moment on the operational integrity and strength of CHC. This is hands down the best run non-profit organization I have ever had the opportunity to work with – the dedication of its people, the thoughtfulness of its leadership, and the execution of its mission. They will work to solve your issues in a ‘client always comes first’ mentality. I hope you will join me in supporting and participating in the mission of this wonderful organization.
