Review for Northern Illinois Food Bank, Geneva, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

One day while working at NIFB a distressed single mother phoned in desperately seeking milk and food for her children. Her spouse had not delivered her support and she had neither food nor money to feed her children with. She was frantic with the thought of her children going to bed hungry and she didn't know where to turn. The staff was able to imediately direct her to an agency who could compassionately assist her. Not only does NIFB aid in feeding hunger, but they also provide amazing support to the agencies, allowing compassionate support through people's most difficult hours. Bravo to them!

Review for Northern Illinois Food Bank, Geneva, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Northern Illinois Food Bank is unfortunately the best kept secret around. Unfortunate that this organization's name is not a household term, as it really should be. No where else would you find such wonderful, caring, accountable people who give so much of themselves and more to feed people like you and I. There is no "average" for hungry people and it's times exactly like these economic times when NIFB shines the most. They have worked so diligently to feed the hungry during the not-so-challenging economic times, creating a strong foundation of volunteership and network of food pantries. Therefore when times get worse, like today, they are prepared and heroically jump in first to help everyone acquire food.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

answering phone calls of people in need and being able to give them direction to fulfill their basic need for food with the vast networks of pantries.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

have more commmercials on the radio and television. It's such a valuable and worthy organization.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the extremely large percentage of money that is allocated for the programs and given back to the communities it serves.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

inspirational, hard working, and created a sense of community to fight against hunger.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

feed more people. Pure and simple.

Ways to make it better...

there were more available opportunities to get the information out in the public about organizations such as NIFB.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

awareness of the good they do.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Dennis Smith is an angel for his tireless efforts he gives in the name of helping others.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
