I have gone on 2 missions with Blanca's House, in 2011 and 2012. The trips were about 6 days long, and the amount of surgical and medical care provided to the underserved population was tremendous. The group is extremely well organized, making for very efficient use of time and resources. I'm a surgeon, and in a few short days, we provided approximately 20 gallbladder surgeries and 30 hernia surgeries for each trip. Additionally, plastic/reconstructive surgery, colonoscopy and endoscopy, and gynecologic surgery was performed. The patients that we helped have truly no resources or access to medical care, and the appreciative smiles make it all worthwhile. The group is a pleasure to travel with and they are like a family. I am planning to going on many more trips with Blanca's House, and you can be assured that every dollar donated goes directly to getting health care to patients!
