Review for Soroptomist Foundation Inc, Atlanta, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a member of Soroptimist International of the Americas in the Soroptimist of Atlanta GA club since 1992. The Atlanta club has now served to help women and girls in the greater Atlanta area since 1946. Membership is this business and professional women's organization has been beneficial not only to the women we serve but has brought women of all professions together for networking and socializing and making friendships that will last forever. If you are a woman who wants to make the lives of women and girls in our community better, please attend one of our meetings or fundraisers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

giving cash awards to single women who are going back to school to improve job skills to provide a better life and future for their children.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

have more members attend other organizations meetings to make them more aware of what our programs are and the women and girls we serve.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing results from our assistance to women and girls in helping them go to school, provide food, shelter, clothing, and emotional support.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

enthusiastic, dedicated, and emotionally involved with the people being served by the community service programs they sponsor or support with money, time, and influence.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

serve so many more single women who are parents of children and who are not able to attend school in order to improve their job skills. It could spread the word more effectively about our organization and put them money into action all over the world.

Ways to make it better...

we had more members.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the size of Atlanta and the numerous civic, business, and professional organizations that are available for women to join.

One thing I'd also say is that...

once you meet the women in the local, region, national, or international organization and see what impact we have had on other women and girls you will come away with the same excitement and urge to join and make a difference.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Board Member & I am helping spread the word about child trafficking in Atlanta and volunteer at several club projects; such as Camp Horizon for Children, StreetGRACE, Champions Medal Foundation.
