Review for A Voice In The Desert A Family & Prision Ministry, Mckinney, TX, USA
I use to be a resident of a Voice in the Desert and let me tell you I would not send my dog to live in this home. The establishment itself is fine. The home is nice, that is not the problem. Margaret Alieca who runs this charity does not have her ducks in a row. She is rude, very unhelpful. This home is to help ex-offenders come back into society and have good support while trying to get a fresh start on life. This is not what happened for me. Food was scarce in the home, you were forced to eat her burnt rice, clothing was very limited and she was not willing to spend her precious money on clothes, hygiene products were also limited she would not help with feminine hygiene supplies either. If you were sick and needed help with medications she would not help. So what does she do with all that money they bring in every year? Hmm lets see, presents for her daughter and family, husband for Christmas, her coffee addiction with Starbucks, her clothes, her outside decor such as a fire pit, her books, her wants. That is where the money goes, she is also to cheap to live at her own home so she resides there as well, she told me not to tell anyone she lived here also it was against the rules for her and her husband to reside there as well. Her "charity" is a joke and so are 90% of the other people who are associated with her. Her brother is also on the board of directors so I am sure he gets a paycheck as well. Please lets help this place get shut down, if you are not christian enough for her she will just throw you out like trash anyway.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would change the board of directors from her family and close friends, she would not reside in the home, there would be a house manager. I would make every woman a welcome basket and allow them a $200.00 clothing allowance for their first day there. I would not force them to do something every night of the week, that is to much, people need time for themselves.
